The Weekend in Pictures

There’s been so much to talk about and so much going on over the past week that I just don’t know where to  begin.  Definitely some blog-worthy topics, I think.  But where I’ve got Rugrat for another 12 days and then Sunshine & her two girls for a few days after that (and then Ankle Biter that weekend…WHEW!!), it’ll be awhile before I get some solid downtime.

So here’s what happened over the weekend…

Sunshine arrived on Friday afternoon and we all went grocery shopping and chillaxed for the night. On Saturday, we all visited my folks in Amherst, NS. Before leaving town, though, we stopped at a playground so Ankle Biter and Sunshine could run around and have some fun. Rugrat isn't a big fan of playgrounds so she stayed in the car. Seriously.
After chasing each other around the playground, both Ankle Biter and Sunshine took a break and frolicked around in the grass. I can't tell you how happy this made me.
On Sunday we all went to the local splash park that Ankle Biter loves so much. Rugrat wasn't really into things at first, but she eventually jumped in and got wet. And yes...she ended up having fun.
Ankle Biter: 08-15-10
I wanted to get a fun pic of me and Ankle Biter, but he couldn't keep a straight face. I'm pretty sure Sunshine had something to do with it...but how can you not be proud of a child that is a chip off the old block?
Don't ask me why, but Sunshine and I were getting such a kick out of Ankle Biter shoving his face into a container of popcorn and coming up with some in his mouth...kinda like bobbing for apples with a twist.
I tried and tried and TRIED to get all three people smiling at the camera at the same time. It didn't work and this was the best I could come up with. Still...seeing three of my favorite people together warmed my heart. 08-15-10
This was the last pic I took on Sunday night before bedtime. took a few attempts before they both had their eyes open and some semblance of a smile showing. Seeing this pic makes me a happy father.
This picture breaks my heart every time I look at it. On Monday morning I took him back to the babysitter, who had been on vacation for two weeks (hence he spent a week with his mom and a week with me). I had told him the night before to say "goodbye" to his sister because they wouldn't see each other until next weekend, but when it was time to leave and she was still asleep in bed, he got VERY sad. I told him that we could take a "good bye" picture and I would give it to his sister. He REALLY became attached to her and I'm going to do whatever I can to ensure that relationship continues after she goes back to Ontario.

So when I dropped him off at the babysitter’s, I got one of the biggest hugs I’ve ever gotten from him.  We had SUCH an amazing week together…it was tough saying goodbye, even if for a couple of days (I’ve got him again on my normal overnight schedule on Wednesday).

Rugrat and I are visiting my folks again today and then she spends three days with her grandmother (on her mom’s side) while I work…so maybe I’ll get some down time enough to process some of the things that have happened over the past week and write about them.

But I’m on vacation, so maybe not…

  1. Great pics. That baby boy is squeezable!!!

It looks like ya’ll got some tween ‘tude from Rugrat. Normal. Sadly, it’s normal.

Maybe she’ll loosen up again before she heads back home! She did last year, remember??
