Go-karts, sunrises, and dreams of a big family

I’ve been going through a bit of a rough week.  It’s been stressful and depressing.  Tonight after work I will drive three hours to Sunshine’s for the weekend before going on vacation and having BOTH of my kids with me next week…so good times are definitely heading my way.

And I wanted to keep in the spirit of “good times” today, so I thought I’d throw up a few pictures that make me smile and bring me joy.

This was taken almost a year ago at Point Pleasant Park in Halifax, Nova Scotia.  Sunshine had the idea of getting up REALLY early in the morning so we could watch the sunrise together.  And while it totally sucked to get up that early, it truly was an amazing moment that I’ll never forget.

This picture was taken during my vacation last year with Ankle Biter.  This was our first go-kart excursion together and I smile every time I see us together.  No, he’s not smiling…but believe me when I say that he absolutely enjoyed the five minutes after this picture was taken.

Ankle Biter & CBG enjoy a little father-son bonding.

I love that my mother gave this to me as a Christmas gift last year.  It’s shampoo.  I’m bald.  Yeah…my mother is awesome.

Oh the irony!

The last time Rugrat came to visit, there was one picture that was taken that made me happier than any other.  This picture truly epitomizes the future I wish to have (just add two more little girls and it’s perfect!).

Yeah...I'd love for all six of us to eventually be together, but I'll settle for moments like this until that happens.

This picture was taken this past spring.  I remember the walk that we took because Sunshine looked incredible that day (she looks beautiful every day, but especially so on this day).  This was also the day that she got her nose pierced.  I dunno…it’s the small things that I remember and make me happy, I guess.

A beautiful woman on a beautiful day.

So what can this weekend bring me?  What can next week bring me?  I work a total of five days over the next three weeks and I can’t wait to spend it with the people I love.  I can’t wait to create new memories that make me smile during tough times and stressful situations.

Vacation…here I come!!

  1. First of all, looking at that up-before-dawn picture of you two, I have to ask. Does Sunshine EVER take a bad picture? Sheeesh! I look like hell on a cracker before the sun rises…

Great pics! You have some fun times in the next few weeks. Enjoy them. Try to stay present with them. And we’ll keep praying on the other stuff, ok?
