Movember: Second Update

Is this thing over yet?

Seriously…this moustache is really getting out of control.

When last I updated you on the status of my Movember mo, things were filling in nicely. I wasn’t a huge fan of growing it, but I figured it was only going to be for a month and then it’ll be gone.

Here is how things have progressed since…

By Movember 11th, the hair was growing to the point where I could see it without using a mirror.  Mind you, I needed some assistance to do it:

By the time Movember 12th came around, I was really thinking that this was going to be a good thing. I mean c’mon now…it’s looking like it’ll be a pretty bad-ass stache!

By the time I spent my first Movember weekend with Sunshine, she didn’t seem too impressed at all:

Still undeterred after the weekend, I was telling myself that this was going to be great!!

At this point, Sunshine had come up with a new nickname for me. She figured since I looked like an 80′s porn star, I should have an 80′s porn star name.  Thus, the introduction of BUCK COCKMAN!!!

By the time Movember 18th came around, hairs were flying all over the place and it was becoming a bit uncomfortable to wear.

As of today, the stache is still there and I’m still not really thrilled with it. It’s big…it’s bushy…and to be 100% honest, I can’t wait for the month to be over.

I’ll do one more update on where my Mo stands before the month is over, but in the meantime if you feel like donating to a worthy cause, please feel free to check out my Movember website:

I never thought I’d want December to get here so quickly….

Movember: First Update

For the first time, I’m participating in Movember.  Not sure what that is?  Well, I’ll let the official website explain:

On Movember 1st, guys register at Movember.com with a clean-shaven face. For the rest of the month, these selfless and generous men…known as Mo Bros…groom, trim and wax their way into the annals of fine moustachery. Supported by the women in their lives (Mo Sistas), Movember Mo Bros raise funds by seeking out sponsorship for their Mo-growing efforts.

Mo Bros effectively become walking, talking billboards for the 30 days of November. Through their actions and words, they raise awareness by prompting private and public conversation around the often ignored issue of men’s health.

I gotta admit…the whole idea of growing a moustache seemed more entertaining before I realized I had to shave my face completely. I really thought that I’d be able to start-off with some stubble and simply take things from there.

Boy…was I wrong.

So Day One came and went. Quite a few people at work realized that I had shaved my “half-goatee” and asked me about it. So I guess I was able to spread the Movember agenda a little bit.

The only problem was that I wasn’t overly happy with what I was looking like sans facial hair:

As Day Two came and went, I was really beginning to regret this facial hair decision…regardless of the reason behind it.  I mean, I’ve got enough self-esteem issues the way it is now…I certainly don’t need to be reminded of them every day by looking into the mirror.

By Day Three, however, things began to change a little bit…

On Day Four, I could see where things were going…

By the time the weekend arrived and I attended a work function on Saturday night, things were beginning to shape up enough that it wasn’t bothering me so much…

So here I am on Day Seven.  The Mo is beginning to fill-in nicely and I’m not nearly as self-conscious as I was almost a week ago when my face was completely naked…

It’s funny…I never thought my biggest problem would be “sculpting” the actual stache itself in the mornings. It’s tough trying to shave around certain areas when there isn’t any hair there to help “guide” you. Thankfully, that’s not an issue now nor should it be going forward.

I think I’ll even try a Schick Hydro to see how it works around the Mo, considering that they’re an official sponsor of Movember.

I’ll update everybody next Monday on where my Mo stands, but in the meantime if you feel like donating to a worthy cause, please feel free to check out my Movember website:

And if you’re a fellow Mo Bro, by all means show me a pic or link-up your site!  I’d love to spread the word around…
