Last year I got to spend Halloween with my son, which was pretty cool. The only problem was that he wasn’t quite at the age where he was ready to go trick-or-treating and he was done after two houses (lol).
This year he was a bit more into things, only it was his mom’s turn to take him out on the town. Still, she promised to bring him by so I could see him dressed up.
Here’s the thing, though…I didn’t know until last night just what he was going to dress up as. Why? Well…he had multiple outfits purchased by his mom. He had an Iron Man outfit, a Star Wars outfit, and a Bumblebee outfit. Listen…I can’t really complain about him being spoiled because I’d do the same thing if I had the means to.
So last night I saw his mom’s car pull up to the front of the house and I was excited to see him. I couldn’t wait to see what he finally decided on. I can’t really explain it…I was like a kid on Christmas morning waiting for him to arrive.
And then this is what I saw…
She bought him a fourth outfit!
Again, I can’t say anything because if I had the money then I’d be doing the same thing, but don’t you think it’s a bit of overkill? Hopefully she kept the receipts of the other three and is able to take them back.
I guess on Saturday he just decided that he wanted to be Raphael the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle. I can’t say it wasn’t cool because…seriously…he looked pretty freakin’ cool.
He arrived just after 5pm and was done in about 10 minutes. I was smiling from ear to ear because I just thought he looked amazing. And then when he started posing for the camera? Well…my smile widened even more.
So once he left I had to wait until about 6pm before more kids arrived. I ran out of candy by 8pm and there were still kids out in the street.
Now to me, I would think if you’re old enough to drive a car then you’re probably too old to trick-or-treat.
Seriously.
And I really think if you’re a parent guarding your kids as they walk the streets for candy from strangers, then you really should re-evaluate your parenting skills if the kids are out past 8pm.
But that’s just me.
So how was your Halloween experience?
And yes…I’ve gotta post one more for the road…
