Last night I wasn’t in the best of moods. There were some things going on that kinda brought me down in the dumps…with a vengeance. Normally I’m the “happy guy”, yet I had forgotten what I needed to do in order to bring me out of my funk.

I’m a musical animal by nature. I wanted to be a DJ growing up and actually did the club DJ gig for almost a decade back in my 20′s. So no matter how depressed I may or may not be, the right song can totally pick me up.
So as I woke up this morning and realized that I hadn’t pre-written a blog post, it seemed that I should attempt to share my musical happiness with all of you.
Starting off is a new song by The Lonely Island. These guys are the comics who brought you “Dick In A Box” a few years ago with Justin Timberlake. Well, they’ve got a new album and the first single is a song that’s actually racing up the charts and features Akon. I didn’t know it was a comedy song at first, but once I heard the lyrics I quickly picked up on things.
There isn’t any nudity or cursing, but I would still define this as being NSFW…
The next two songs are from the group that brought “Auto-Tune the News” to YouTube, The Gregory Brothers. I gotta tell you…based on these two songs alone, they’re my new favorite band.
Here’s the backstory…
The Gregory Brothers find a news story that they like, write a song about it, then turn the news story into melody using auto-tune technology.
Here’s the first example: Antoine Dodson. This guy was interviewed because he woke up to find an intruder trying to rape his sister in the next room. The video went viral because he was just so animated and made him an instant 15-Minutes of Fame type of celebrity for 2010. This is the original news story (which makes me laugh out loud EVERY time I watch it) that now has over 25 MILLION hits on YouTube:
Got it? Okay…here is the Bed Intruder Song that the Gregory Brothers created. It became so popular that they sold it on iTunes (I bought a copy) and split the money with Antoine…helping him buy a new house in the process (seriously…that’s how popular this is). This is catchy as all get-out…
Now tell me this isn’t BRILLIANT!!
Now there’s one more video by the Gregory Brothers that’s more recent that has me bouncing around like I was teenager again. This woman (named Diana) was a witness to an attempted robbery at a convenience store where the clerk ended up chasing the robbers away by shooting at them.

It’s Christmastime!!! What better way for a Canadian to celebrate Christmas than to listen to a rockin’ version of Frosty the Snowman that includes hockey, Mr. Lahey from the Trailer Park Boys, and even Joey Jeremiah from Degrassi???
